What is plagiarism

Plagiarism entails several categories:

  1. Direct quoting (copy & paste): This kind of plagiarism is less likely to occur due to its quick detection by the software.
  2. Paraphrasing: The text is a full copy of an old one, and the author exerts only small changes.
  3. Incorrect citing: In order to avoid this type of plagiarism, in case of using a copied but paraphrased text, the author should add the appropriate reference number at the end of the sentence and provide the reference list at the end of the article.
  4. Non-use of quotation mark: If the text of the published article is exactly used in the new article, it should be placed in quotation marks.
  5. Copying from multiple sources: In this type of plagiarism, each paragraph is copied from one article.
  6. Mosaic plagiarism: The author irregularly uses the sentences or paragraphs of published articles.
  7. Stealing idea: A person uses the idea of another person without his/her permission and even without mentioning his name in the article.
  8. Inaccurate authorship: This type of plagiarism involves the insertion of the name of the authors who did not have a role in any part of the study or removal of an author’s name without his/her permission.
  9. Self-plagiarism: The author uses his/her previous published articles without providing a reference or paraphrasing
